Fetal health begins with the mother's health.

Fetal health begins with the mother's health.

Some pregnant women are exposed to many health problems during pregnancy, either due to the nature of the mother's health condition , the condition of the fetus, or a sudden appearance due to accidents or exposure to the surrounding environment.

Pregnant women must undergo close medical follow-up , including many necessary regular tests and examinations, in order to ensure a safe pregnancy until delivery.

For this reason, many countries have established medical units and hospitals that focus on maternal and fetal analysis and testing, with the goal of providing screening, diagnosis, and treatment by specialized physicians from the first day of pregnancy. This is used to prevent fetal abnormalities and the possibility of early miscarriage in the mother.

The Egyptian General Health Administration emphasizes that the safety of pregnant women and their fetuses requires a series of professional tests. This contributes to the accurate diagnosis of many problems, including high-risk pregnancies such as advanced pregnancies, placental or uterine attachment, and preeclampsia.

In addition, the analysis and testing contribute to the detection and treatment of gestational diabetes, the treatment of pregnancy-related anemia, and the follow-up of rare twin pregnancies.

A pregnant woman needs a series of tests to look for antibodies against certain agents that can cause infection in the fetus in the womb or during birth, especially if the infection occurred in the mother during pregnancy.

The term "torch" is an abbreviation for the tests required to detect the most serious infections, which are often transmitted from mother to fetus and cause numerous health problems. These tests include toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, and herpes. These infections pose a significant risk to the fetus if acquired from the mother.

In addition to these advanced tests, there is another set of fetal health needs, such as diagnosing genetic diseases that may affect the fetus.

In addition, many tests can be performed using ultrasound to help diagnose many problems in pregnant women.

When ultrasound results are unclear, some doctors may prefer an MRI to get a detailed picture of fetal development.

These x-rays should not be taken early in pregnancy. They will be relied upon at a later stage.

Tests and analyses help correctly diagnose health problems and help prescribe the correct medications needed during pregnancy.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health has warned pregnant women against taking the drug during pregnancy without consulting a doctor. This is because it can lead to the risk of premature birth and birth defects in the fetus.

At the same time, whether smoking is positive or negative, it is recommended to stop smoking because smoking directly affects the mother and the fetus.

She stressed that smoking causes numerous problems for the mother and fetus during and after pregnancy, the most serious of which are children suffering from miscarriage, stillbirth, cerebral palsy, or visual impairment.

Because smoking increases the chance of having a low-birth-weight or underdeveloped baby, or the chance of having a cleft lip, pregnant women should stay away from smokers to protect themselves and their fetus, and you should quit completely.

In either case, a pregnant woman should pay close attention to a healthy diet, which includes a range of nutrients essential for the health and safety of the fetus.
